In the event you have not seen this in the news yet, potential employers are now scouting out informationon MySpace before hiring new employees.
YES! Those funny pictures of you spazzing out at your best friends wedding or you REALLY enjoying spring break in Florida can be seen by your potential next employer. Or, more specifically, they could PREVENT them from being your next employer because they really aren’t looking for a party girl or party guy.
So, a word to the wise, be congnizant of what you are saying about yourself with posts and pictures on MySpace so you don’t eliminate yourself for a sought-after new job !

I attended a Linked In workshop yesterday and learned a few nuances about the site.
DID YOU KNOW? When you do not accept an invitation from someone you don’t know AND you mark it as "I don’t know them", their account gets "dinged". If an account gets five "dings" in one month, Linked In will flag that account and not allow to send invitations for a period of time. Likewise, if YOU send out invitations to those that don’t know you and they click on that answer, you will get your account flagged or "dinged" if five people do this in a one month period.
Moral of the story is to only send invitations to people that know you. If you aren’t certain they will remember your name, personalize the invitation referencing where you two met. And ask them to only "Decline" if they don’t accept your invitation as that does not ding your account.
My Linked In tip of the day!

Today, I want to share a unique outlook on "failure". Dan Miller is the guru of career choices and living the life you were meant to live. Enjoy ! Cindy
The unexpected changes happening today are causing a lot of people to think they have “failed.†But have they really, or is that occurrence a necessary step toward success? Is it possible to be extraordinarily great in any area of our lives without going through those inevitable “failures?†Can a world-class golfer get to greatness without hitting a lot of balls in the lake? Can faith be mature and strong without going through doubt and radical uncertainty? Does a person ever find that perfect job without going through several disappointments or even firings first?
I think we need to change our definition of “failure.†It seldom means the end of hope – rather, it seems to be a needed part of the process. Can you welcome failure? Can you at least see it as a healthy part of your progress toward the success you want?
Daniel Boone was once asked by a reporter if he had ever been lost in the wilderness. Boone thought a moment and then replied, “No, but I was once bewildered for about three days.†I like that. Rather than saying you are lost, how about if you just acknowledge being bewildered right now with company closings, tight money and business challenges.

Are you not receiving call backs on voicemail messages you are leaving?
Maybe it’s because you are talking too fast when leaving your number. It’s amazes me how many people calling me looking for jobs (and other people, too) actually SPEED UP when it comes time to leave their phone number ! They will ramble on slowly or normal pace when leaving the nature of their call and, then, when they leave their number, it’s twice as fast as the rest of the message. I have played back messages two and three times trying to hear the full number. Some messages I can never hear and they, obviously, did not get called back.
ALWAYS Speak SLOWLY when giving your phone number and always leave it twice. Give it at the beginning of the message and again at the end. That way, the receiving person can verify they wrote it down correctly.
Today, pay attention to your pace when leaving your number and see if you get more return calls.
