The Internal Revenue Service is increasing the mileage rates for calculating the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes, for 2007.
The 2007 mileage rates will be:
- 48.5 cents per mile for business miles driven, up from the 2006 level of 44.5 cents per mile.
- 20 cents per mile driven for medical or moving miles driven, up from 18 cents per mile in 2006.
- 14 cents per mile driven in service to charitable organizations.
The increases in mileage rates for business, moving and medical purposes were attributed to increased fuel and vehicle costs. The rates are based on an annual study, conducted by Runzheimer International, of the costs of operating a vehicle.
The rate for charitable mileage is set by statute. / For more:www.irs.gov.

As we stop to pause and reflect during this holiday time, my hopes are that every one of you find time to spend with your loved ones and to touch them with a thoughtful gesture. We all get so crazily busy during the year, it’s nice that there is a time DELEGATED to spend with friends, family and loved ones. Take someone to lunch that you haven’t talked to in months, pick up the phone and call an old friend, stop by and drop off a gift basket to someone unexpectedly. TOUCH someone with your kindness. Do something to remember those who love and support you. Recently, the nicest thing someone did for me was bring me a "Get Well" small stuffed animal for my sick pet. I was so touched. It was the sweetest gesture and I will remember that for a long, long time. And my friend Rosemary touched my heart when she made that gesture.
WHO can you touch today with a kindness? It doesn’t have to be the holidays to brighten someone’s day but it somehow seems easier to do it then. So, start the habit now and carry in into the New Year. You never know what small thing can make a memorable huge difference in someone’s life. I have a small bear to remind me of a treasured friend…what will YOUR remembrance be for your close circle of friends and family?

Hello and welcome to my first ever blog entry.
I just returned from my annual National Association of Personnel Services conference and, wow, what an industry I am in. An astonishing number to me was that our services generate over $117 BILLION dollars a year in revenue! Who knew? And to think that I “fell into” this profession
.
In July 1999, a friend and I went to lunch. I was not happy as a sales rep with my current company at the time and I said, “Where does a good sales rep go to get a job around here (Nashville, Tennessee)?”. She said, “I’ve been thinking about that. We should start a company”. We moved fast and, on Dec. 15, 1999, Sales Executives was launched! We struggled through the first year challenges, the 2001-2003 drop off and serious cash flow issues early on. THEN, it all fell into place. My partner later went on to a separate but reciprocal business and I kept the recruiting business.
I can honestly say this can be the most rewarding career in the world. I can also honestly say this can be the hardest job in the world. I don’t take what I do lightly. I can change people’s lives with a new job and I can help steer a company to greater sales success. Our challenge is that we deal with the most volatile product there is- people. Our product can change their mind, lie to us, get emotionally involved in the sale (a copier machine can’t do that, can it?
) or just not call us back. But, then, we have the true professional. They are seeking a greater challenge, a better corporate culture, a reasonable boss or maybe just a boost in income. Whatever their motivators, they understand we will work our very hardest to match them to the right client so all those involved are ecstatic at the end. They call us back, they are truthful with us, they are forthright and honest on the interview, they do their research on the company to make sure they are making the right decision and they look at all aspects to make sure they are making the right decision. Again, I do not take this lightly. It is the CAREER and LIVELIHOOD of this job seeker that I am involved in and it absolutely has to be the right decision for BOTH sides. It’s not about making the “buck”- though it is a business. That part will come when I’ve done all the right things on the front end. I want my clients to think of me when they think of an integrity recruiter and I want candidates to know they will be treated with respect and professionalism during this most important change of their life.
Yes- the most rewarding career ever was the right choice to make.
